In the “Larder” this week 12th October 2026
We have a new look larder this week, with better shelving and more space. We think it’s a great improvement and we hope you do too. But more important than how it looks, what’s in there?
Well, in the freezer we have root vegetable crush, M&S cheese & tomato pizza plus chicken wings, nuggets, a few chicken Kiev and some packs of sausages.
There are crispy chicken steaks in the fridge as well plus Morrison’s carrot & coriander soup, Greek yoghurts and some rather nice orange fizzy drinks. BTW – I like to stir a spoonful of Greek yoghurt into the soup – it tastes delicious and ups your protein intake.
On our shelves we have brioche buns and Kingsmill 50:50 bread (chicken steak sandwich?), and for those of you with a sweet tooth we have some Cherry Bakewell cakes and some delicious Madeira cake. I ate mine with some banana and a scoop of Greek yogurt from the fridge. Well, it made the cake feel healthy, even if it wasn’t! And if you are still in a summer frame of mind, there are some Haagen-Dazs caramel ice-cream lollies in the freezer.
On the larder shelves there’s porridge, cans of sweetcorn (pop some on the pizza?), some oat milk, crushed tomatoes and chickpeas and lovely Autumn vegetables such as carrots, onions, cabbages & potatoes. All of which would be nice accompaniments for a piece of Farne salmon.
We also have 2 new, free shelves in the café. Items on these do not count towards the ten-item limit.
£2 for up to 10 items. Remember to bring a bag.
