Unfortunately FareShare Edinburgh had a chiller breakdown this weekend so a lot of what we ordered did not arrive. However we do have some lovely nectarines, lemons and lettuce from them. Abundant Borders have given us some more beans and a beautiful cabbage. You can’t get fresher! The What Matters Hub will be at FairShare on Tuesday. I’ve lost count of the number of people I speak to who have been helped by the WMH team.  Once again thank you to all our supporters. Without the help of local businesses and our fantastic volunteers we would not exist.

Abundant Borders have given us some beautiful fresh Field beans which are the same as broad beans except smaller and sweeter.  As you will see from the photograph the fridge has a really good range of items, something for everyone. The banoffee pie protein mousse needs to go on Tuesday.  In other news, we have had a slight revamp in the cafe so that we can fit in more tables and chairs. This should help during busy times.  Once again thank you to FareShare, Duns Co-op, Farne Salmon, Greenvale, Abundant Borders and Eildon Housing. Your continued support is much appreciated. We will be open Tuesday and Thursday 10 till 12 noon.

The exciting news this week is that we have started to get fresh produce from Abundant Borders, Station Road, Duns again. Broad beans, gooseberries and a lovely cabbage all grown in the community garden.  It’s a busy time at the cafe as we have the What Matters Hub and Sustainable Borders visiting on Tuesday. The freezer is full of breaded chicken, large bags of grated mozzarella and frozen peas. The fridge has fewer items in it but this is because the freezer is full! As you will see from the pictures we also have a good range of fruit and vegetables. The kettle will be on and hopefully the rain…

This week is volunteers’ week. Duns Fair Share is run completely by volunteers and we would like to thank our amazing team for all the valuable work they do. The fridge has a really good mix of items including some lovely black grapes. We have lots of melons, galia and cantaloupe, aubergines, carrots, loads of lemons and a huge number of tomatoes. The bananas are very ripe and would be good for baked bananas, banana bread or smoothies. The extension dates for the lemon iced tea, microwave rice and lemon curd are written on the whiteboard at the side of the fridge. FareShare work with the manufacturers and then give…

This week we have 24 litres of frozen milk. It has a use by date of the 2nd June 2025, so will need to go this week. The milk will be an ‘extra’ item and won’t count as your freezer item. We also have a table full of rice pouches which also need to go this week. Please help yourself. As you will see from the photos we have lots and lots of big oranges available and a range of other fruit and vegetables.  A date for your diaries, Sustainable Borders will be visiting the cafe on Tuesday 10th June to give energy advice.  The What Matters Hub will be…
