Wow, what a drop in the temperature outside! Lots of choice again this week. A selection of cheese in the fridge, as well as some milk that has to go tomorrow. The freezer has lots of salmon thanks to Farne and as you will see from the photographs we have a range of fruit and vegetables. Pop in for a cosy cuppa. We are open from 10 till 12 noon tomorrow and Thursday.

As you will see from the photo this week the fridge has a good selection again. The overnight oats are extra and don’t count in your two fridge items. The range of fresh fruit and vegetables is also good. Lots of lovely cherry tomatoes, blueberries and pears. We even have some early mince pies. Should you eat mince pies before December? You decide. The What Matters Hub will be at the cafe tomorrow and the kettle will be on.

We have some cosy comfort food in the fridge this week with mince and tatties and hot pot ready meals. We also have yoghurt, cream, ham, garlic flat breads and pots of prawn cocktail, a real mix. As you will see from the photos we also have a good variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. New in the freezer are some large Yorkshire puddings. The kettle will be on, so pop along to Murray Street for a cuppa and stop all of this food going to landfill.

This week we have a good variety of fruit and vegetables including bags of sweet potatoes. They are delicious and very nutritious, a “super food”. The fridge has a real mix of items. The iced coffee needs to go this week so please take one and it won’t count as one of your 2 fridge items. We also have a range of bakery goods from Duns Co-op, potatoes from Greenvale and salmon from Farne. The kettle will be on so see you at Murray Street tomorrow, 10 till 12 noon.

As you will see from the photographs, the fridge is full with a wide variety of things including vanilla mocha iced coffee. The table is also very full. We have loads of tomatoes which will make delicious soup etc. We also have cauliflowers, sweetcorn, carrots, tender stem broccoli and nets of mandarins. Last week we were asked if we could start serving toast, sandwiches and soup to the community cafe visitors. We have researched this idea and I’m afraid due to health and safety regulations we cannot. Someone else asked about dominoes etc. There are games available in a basket on the shelves in the cafe. Looking forward to seeing…

Well, we have a real challenge for Duns this week. FareShare have delivered a great range of things. As you will see from the photograph, the fridge is full with a real variety of items. The beef mince needs to go tomorrow and can be frozen. We also have a whole box of mushrooms, a crate of lettuce, a box of bananas and a crate of onions, all needing to be saved from landfill! So pop along to Murray Street tomorrow. The kettle will be on for a cosy cuppa.

As I’ve said before we often get surprises from FareShare. This week they have sent a box of bananas, Greek yoghurt, savoy cabbages, carrots and ostrich steaks! FareShare have also delivered some loaded potato skins for the freezer. We will also have our usual fantastic salmon from Farne, a range of bakery goods from Duns Co op and potatoes from Greenvale. The What Matters Hub will be at the cafe until 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday). And on another note please vote for the Food Bank at Tesco, Berwick. If we get the most votes we will receive £1,500 from the Tesco Stronger Starts programme.
