Abundant Borders and the Hugo Burge Foundation have once again excelled themselves by providing us with some beautiful fresh, local fruit and vegetables. Amazing. The freezer is full. Salmon from Farne and a selection of things from FareShare. The fridge has some extra items that don’t count as your 2. They are mushrooms and the family pizzas. The pakora and dip count as one item. The table is full of fruit and vegetables all waiting to be picked up. Let’s save all this amazing food from landfill.  The What Matters Hub will be at the cafe tomorrow (Tuesday). See you at Murray Street.

Once again we have some excellent, super fresh produce from the Abundant Borders garden in Duns. Why not pop in. It is a lovely spot. This week the freezer has pizzas, chicken tenders, salmon from Farne and carrots. We have opted to pay extra so that we can order frozen items from FareShare. Please remember,  this week the minimum donation in the larder goes up to £2. Once again we have a fantastic range of fruit and vegetables thanks to The Hugo Burge Foundation, Abundant Borders, FareShare and Duns Co-op. It is also lovely at this time of the year when people drop off extra produce from their own gardens. We were given some super fresh cucumbers the other week by a generous supporter. The What Matters Hub will be in the cafe on Tuesday this week. Let’s all do our bit – Love Food Hate Waste 💚🌍💚.

In the larder 4th August 2025 Lots of fantastic fruit and vegetables again this week including some delicious mangetout. Unfortunately our fridge is waiting to be repaired so no chilled produce this week. We have put this off for as long as possible, but as from the 12th August the minimum donation for the larder will be £2. The cafe (pink bucket) will continue as pay as you feel. This is due to increased delivery and running costs. It will still be an amazing bargain but if we don’t raise the minimum we will not be able to continue. Thank you for your continued support.

Once again we have a fantastic array of fruit and vegetables available. We have had large deliveries from The Hugo Burge Foundation, Abundant Borders and Fare Share. New in the freezer this week are some frozen baguettes and of course salmon from Farne. By using Duns FairShare you help stop all this amazing fresh food from going to waste. It is always very satisfying to see how much fresh food, including loose fruit and vegetables, we redistribute. An amazing fact is that: “If all apples, bananas and potatoes were sold loose, 60,000 tonnes of food waste could be saved every year. “  We are open on Tuesday and Thursday 10…

Unfortunately FareShare Edinburgh had a chiller breakdown this weekend so a lot of what we ordered did not arrive. However we do have some lovely nectarines, lemons and lettuce from them. Abundant Borders have given us some more beans and a beautiful cabbage. You can’t get fresher! The What Matters Hub will be at FairShare on Tuesday. I’ve lost count of the number of people I speak to who have been helped by the WMH team.  Once again thank you to all our supporters. Without the help of local businesses and our fantastic volunteers we would not exist.
