In the Larder this week 9th September 2024

This week we thought it might be a good idea to explain where the food available comes from. As you will have probably guessed the frozen salmon comes from Farne in Duns. They have supported us from day one along with Greenvale from whom we collect bags of potatoes. Nearly all the bread and bakery goods come from Duns Coop. Marchmont House and Abundant Borders in Duns give us fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables. Eildon Housing bring food they obtain from FairShare in Edinburgh every fortnight, and this includes some fresh produce. FareShare also deliver directly to us each week. We complete an online request to FareShare the week before but it is a ‘wish list’ and we usually get some surprises. We pay for delivery. We also use the proceeds from the cafe/larder to buy some basics for the shelf. Finally the community donates some fresh garden produce and tins etc they can’t use. Everything is run by volunteers. Without their time and support there would be no cafe/larder Thank you everyone.
